What is RSS?
RSS is Web content syndication format.
Its name is an acronym for Really Simple Syndication.
Web content can be something like news, but can essentially anything that can be broken down into discrete items. You can identify content you like and have it delivered directly to you when the information changes. This takes the hassle out of staying up-to-date with information you are interested in.
How do I start using RSS feeds?
Firstly you need an application that can understand the RSS format. There are many different types available, most of which can be downloaded for free. These are mostly desktop applications, however many of the newer versions of Web browsers are also capable of reading RSS feeds. After you have your application it is a simple case of creating a new feed and copying the URL of the feed you are interested in to the settings for that particular feed. Your application will then take care of when and how often it should check for changes to that RSS feed.
