Can Factory

All projects have to be managed. At Can Factory we have skilled Project Managers overseeing progress and working with all members of the team to ensure that projects are delivered in a time and cost effective manner. Our Project Managers use standard methodologies that are tailored to the needs of each client. All projects are managed with utmost transparency; all project members have access to a web based project communications tool which enables document sharing and tailored visibility.

Managing Quality

In order to ensure all systems are built to the highest quality Can Factory take requirements gathering and sign-off very seriously. Using our Work Breakdown Structure as the basis for allocating work and gathering requirements we ensure that data requirements are defined in as much detail as possible, with as much thought going into the use of the data at the end of the process as goes into the design of the front end.

Project Controls

Controls include:

  • Taking a milestone tracking approach to progress monitoring.
  • Monitoring progress against plan daily by verbal review with each member of the team.
  • Taking an active approach to Risk Management, reviewing identified risks each week and escalating as required.
  • Using the Earned Value method to compare actual cost to the planned cost of completed work; thus being able to predict cost and schedule over-runs before they occur.
  • Producing weekly Project Status Reports.

Managing Change

Can Factory are always amenable to addressing last minute changes to requirements and will always try and accommodate our client’s needs within their budget. As the technology provider we feel it is our duty to make clients aware of the potential risks involved at each change of requirements and to fully discuss and assess this impact before going ahead and making any changes. To this end a change control process is agreed with our clients before work commences.

Tools

Can Factory have a number of tools that we use both internally and with our clients:

  • SharePoint is used to share documents securely amongst remote team members, to store contact details of all relevant parties, and many benefits to teams working in remote locations.
  • Project Server is used to share an online project plan with all project members without requiring an installation of MS Project.
  • Mantis is used to track issues throughout the project life-cycle.

If you have the skills and the resources in-house but have tight budgets or timescales we also provide standalone Project Management services.
