Giving back to our local community through Thames Reach

 In Charity, Our News

Over Christmas, Thames Reach shaped a campaign to raise money for those living on the streets in London specifically for the elderly as they suffer most severely in this period.

The organisation is a London based charity working with the homeless since 1984 and over the past few years has diversified its services. They provide a variety of help for the displaced such as hostels, specialist accommodation for people with substance misuse, learning and employment programmes as well as a range of specialist advice and assistance.

Time for Can Factory to Give Back

At Can Factory we believe it is important to support local community groups and with statistics of annual rough sleeping at 8,108 people on the streets in London last year we felt it was fitting to help our local homeless shelter, Thames Reach Bondway.

In December 2017 Can Factory donated a sum to help Thames Reach achieve their goal. This money will provide shelter for those in need so that they can begin to rebuild their lives with help of the dedicated team of Thames Reach. Our donation has been directed to Can Factory’s local Thames Reach Bondway shelter to assist the Christmas 2017 campaign, which has now hit its target by 124%.

How can you get involved?

There are multiple difficulties that older people face on the streets including violence and assault, health problems such as pneumonia, osteoporosis, arthritis as well as mental health issues. Thames Reach were so delighted to have received our donation and are always in need of contributions throughout the whole year no matter the amount, if you are looking to help your local Thames Reach shelter we would love to introduce you or you can take a look at their website. Can Factory are very glad to have been able to touch the lives of those near to us who are struggling over the festive period and look forward to doing so again!
