We are looking for a Frontend Platform Engineer to lead the development of user interfaces that are responsive, accessible, and engineered for flawless performance under high traffic.

This role is not simply about aesthetics; it’s about engineering. You will be instrumental in turning complex functional requirements into highly available, scalable assets. You will work across a variety of platforms - from large-scale, sophisticated e-commerce platforms to five-star mobile applications - ensuring a seamless user experience that drives our clients’ commercial goals. This requires a deep understanding of browser performance, mobile responsiveness, and the integration of intricate systems via modern APIs.

If you are a delivery-focused engineer who takes technical ownership of the front-end architecture and is comfortable ensuring a system is resilient during peak trading, you will thrive in our team of trusted technical partners.

Goals For Your First Three Months

  • Take Ownership of the frontend architecture for a major platform initiative.
  • Deliver fully-tested, high-performance, and responsive code against immovable deadlines.
  • Collaborate seamlessly with back-end and UX/UI teams to ensure the single customer view is accurately and efficiently presented.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to accessibility and performance standards that align with our world-class digital experience benchmark.

Must Have

  • Mastery of Core Web Technologies: Expert-level knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, and modern JavaScript (ES6+).
  • Modern Framework Experience: Deep, demonstrable experience with at least one major JavaScript framework (e.g., React, Vue, or Angular).
  • Responsive & Mobile-First Design: Proven ability to build pixel-perfect, highly responsive interfaces using modern CSS techniques and frameworks.
  • API Integration: Strong understanding of consuming RESTful and GraphQL services efficiently and securely.
  • Performance Optimisation: Practical experience with browser performance tooling and techniques to ensure fast load times and smooth user interactions.

Nice-to-Have

  • Experience with server-side rendering (SSR) or static site generation (SSG).
  • Familiarity with native mobile development concepts or cross-platform tools like React Native or Flutter.
  • Experience with testing frameworks (e.g., Jest, Cypress) and modern build tools (Webpack, Vite).
  • Experience working on high-volume e-commerce or transactional platforms.
