Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement
This statement is made by Can Factory Ltd (Company Number 04427646) in accordance with our commitment to ethical and responsible business practices.
- Introduction and Commitment
Can Factory Ltd is absolutely committed to preventing acts of modern slavery and human trafficking from occurring within its business and supply chains. We recognise that modern slavery is a global human rights issue, and we have a zero-tolerance approach to it. Although, as a small to medium-sized enterprise, Can Factory Ltd is not legally required to publish a statement under Section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015, we voluntarily publish this statement to demonstrate our commitment to transparency, ethical operations, and the abolition of modern slavery and human trafficking.
- Our Business and Structure
- Organisation: Can Factory Ltd is a bespoke software development and consultancy company, established in 2002, with our registered office in London, UK.
- Core Services: We specialise in providing high-end technical consultancy, systems integration, and bespoke software development, primarily for high-profile, high-traffic digital commerce and content management solutions.
- Workforce: Our workforce is predominantly composed of highly-skilled, professional staff based in the United Kingdom. We operate in a low-risk sector (professional services/IT) where the risk of modern slavery in our direct operations is considered extremely low.
- Our Supply Chains
Given the nature of our business, our supply chains are relatively short and straightforward, mainly comprising:
- Professional Services: Legal, accountancy, and other consultancy services.
- IT Infrastructure & Software: Hardware, cloud computing services (e.g., AWS, Azure), and off-the-shelf software licences.
- Office Services: Utilities, office supplies, and cleaning services for our London premises.
The majority of our suppliers are well-established, regulated professional UK-based organisations, which we believe significantly minimises the risk of modern slavery being present in the immediate supply chain.
- Policies in Relation to Slavery and Human Trafficking
Our commitment to ethical conduct is embedded in our internal policies, ensuring fair and legal treatment of all staff and adherence to all relevant legislation. These include:
- Recruitment Policy: Designed to ensure all employees have a legal right to work and are paid at least the UK National Living Wage.
- Whistleblowing Policy: Encouraging all employees to report any potential wrongdoing, confidentially and without fear of reprisal, including any concerns related to modern slavery or human trafficking.
- Code of Conduct: Clearly outlining the professional and ethical standards expected of all employees and partners.
- Due Diligence and Risk Assessment
We take a pragmatic approach to assessing the risk of modern slavery:
- Risk Profile: We consider the risk of modern slavery in our direct business (skilled UK-based staff) to be very low.
- Supplier Risk: We assess our main procurement areas (IT, professional services) as low-risk. For new or significant contracts, particularly those involving physical goods or services that may rely on outsourced labour (e.g., cleaning, catering, or non-UK-based providers), we incorporate due diligence to verify their compliance with relevant labour laws.
- Client Contracts: We often work as a key supplier for large commercial organisations. We support our clients’ own anti-slavery efforts by agreeing to contractual clauses that require us to comply with the Modern Slavery Act where applicable, even if we are not directly required to do so by statute.
- Training
We ensure that key personnel, particularly those involved in recruitment and procurement, are aware of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and the potential risks of modern slavery and human trafficking.
