Investment bank

Measure Twice, Cut Once

Working with our long-term partners WAE, Can Factory spent an intensive month working with the internal team of a large commercial investment bank at their headquarters in Canary Wharf. The team were briefed to capture a detailed set of requirements for an upcoming project. The end product will operate in a totally new financial market for the investment bank and is one that we are sure will be extremely successful.

As the project and end product are totally new, it was important to make sure that what was captured was not only right from the banks point of view, but more importantly, that it was right for the end customers. As with most complex financial and technical projects, what is right for one customer may not be right for all. With this in mind, we worked with the WAE team to run a number of detailed client interview sessions throughout the requirements phase to continually test and re-test our assumptions and design concepts. This agile way of working allowed us to sculpt and re-sculpt the solution to ensure it will meet the needs of the various end customers as well as the varied internal customers / stakeholders within the investment banks business, who are equally important.

Based in the customer’s headquarters due to the need for privacy and security, the existing internal team were made up of key the banks business owners and internal developers. This team was then extended by a number of WAE consultants and designers, as well as a business analysis team and some hands-on developers from Can Factory. Having the entire team in the same room every day allowed us to use a highly-tuned agile approach to ensure that we could change direction as the project requirements were exposed. It is our feeling that having the entire team co-located in a single room is one of the key factors to the success of the project.

The project will continue to evolve over the coming months and years and Can Factory are proud to have been involved right from inception. We look forward to developing and extending the product as it grows and changes with the client and market needs.
